German Sauerkraut Recipe - Authentic Easy Recipe for German Sauerkraut

German sauerkraut is a standby in most German restaurants and this easy sauerkraut recipe can give you that authentic German sauerkraut taste in just a few minutes. It simply requires a can or jar of sauerkraut, some spices and a few minutes simmering time - Voila - great sauerkraut!

Prep Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 16 Ounce can or jar of sauerkraut
  • 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Onions
  • 1 Cup White Wine or Apple Juice
  • 1 Tspn Nutmeg
  • 1/2 Cup apple - peeled and chopped
  • 1 Dozen Juniper berries

Preparation:

Mix all ingredients above together, put in a pot and simmer for 30-40 minutes. Make sure there is enough liquid, if the sauerkraut is not covered, add a little more wine or apple juice.
